It’s not easy to narrow down the reasons for the Giants’ demise — but we tried | New York Post
It is always one of those uncomfortable confluences that arise: the arrival of the holiday season with the impending end of a terrible football season. Ho, ho, ho, and woe, woe, woe.
What went wrong with the Giants this season? So many reasons. We tried to itemize and explain the most glaring five.
Shadeur Sanders seems himself being a Giant
Shadeur Sanders sounds like he thinks he’s going to the #Giants & we know Schoen/Brown have done a lot of work on him
If the play is to can Daboll, they better already have a plan in place for OC or HC that can mold Sanders. He has talent but every QB needs the right development pic.twitter.com/EOYF8n9w6V— Dan Schneier (@DanSchneierNFL) December 25, 2024
Presser Points: Takeaways from Coach Brian Daboll | Giants.com
A lot of the rookies have “really done a nice of performing when they’ve had opportunities.”
Rookie linebacker Darius Muasau, who is in line to make his sixth start, is “smart, tough, instinctive” and has been productive when he’s been able to play. He possesses the “right traits” and has “continued to develop.”

Giants rookie Dru Phillips proving he ‘can hang’ among NFL’s elite corners | New York Post
Phillips, who has lined up in the slot on 425 of 511 defensive snaps, doesn’t have a PFF subscription but laughed in agreement at the suggestion that he might have to embrace the polarizing analytics website the way they support him.
“Coming in, you hear about the NFL guys, and I give everyone the benefit of the doubt,” said Phillips. “But I go out there and I’m like, ‘Oh s–t, I’m pretty damn good, too.’ I’ve been out there going against the best, and I can hang. It’s good to be recognized in some sort of way. t’s a cool accomplishment. Good for confidence, I guess.”
Ranking the best NFL rookies after Week 16 | PFF
6. WR Malik Nabers New York Giants PFF Grade: 82.9. Nabers is just 31 yards shy of reaching 1,000 receiving yards as a rookie after another strong performance in the Giants’ loss to the Atlanta Falcons. He has been remarkably consistent, having put up just two single-game grades below 65.0, and he has averaged an impressive 1.90 yards per route run through 16 weeks.
11. CB Andru Phillips, New York Giants. PFF Grade: 77.8 Phillips struggled in the Giants’ loss to the Falcons on Sunday but has had an impressive rookie campaign. Earning PFF grades above 74.0 both against the run and in coverage, he has registered 29 defensive stops.

Giants Rumors: Brian Daboll, Joe Schoen ‘Are Not a Duo’ amid Hot-Seat Buzz | Bleacher Report
The New York Giants hired both general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll ahead of the 2022 season, but that reportedly doesn’t mean they will always be linked together as the front office decides on the franchise’s future.
“I think the bottom line here, looking at the situation in New York, do not think or believe that they are together,” Dianna Russini of The Athletic said Tuesday on the Scoop City podcast. “They are not a duo. It is not looked at that way.”
What’s Really Wrong with the New York Giants Offense? | SI
But what about the Giants offense? Is the personnel an ideal fit for the scheme that head coach Brian Daboll wants to run? Is the team merely a quarterback away? Or is there much more involved?
