Raheem Layne headed to IR … because it wouldn’t be right if the Giants got through a week without someone having a season-ending injury
Drew Lock should be healthy and ready to start Sunday for the New York Giants when the face the Indianapolis Colts in their final home game of the 2024 season, head coach Brian Daboll said on Tuesday.
Lock had gone for an MRI on his throwing shoulder after Sunday’s 34-7 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Lock being ready to go means Tommy DeVito will be the No. 2 quarterback, and Tim Boyle the emergency third quarterback.
Linebacker Micah McFadden (burner), running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. (ankle), center John Michael Schmitz (ankle), cornerback Greg Stroman (shoulder/shin), defensive tackle Cory Durden, cornerback Dru Phillips and wide receiver Malik Nabers will not practice on Tuesday.

This is how things have gone for the Giants in 2024. Safety Raheem Layne, who was just signed to the 53-man roster last week, will reportedly finish the season on IR after suffering a torn meniscus during Sunday’s loss to Atlanta.
Layne, 25, played in 11 games for the Los Angeles Chargers over the 2022 and 2023 seasons. He suffered a season-ending torn Achilles in 2023, and spent this season on the Giants’ practice squad rehabbing.
Layne played in just two games for the Giants. On Sunday, he had three solo tackles in 22 defensive snaps.
