The Bengals shore up their defensive line depth.
The Cincinnati Bengals have signed defensive end Isaiah Thomas off the practice squad to the active roster and waived quarterback Logan Woodside, the team announced on Monday.
Thomas, a second-year player, spent the first six games of this season on the Bengals’ practice squad before signing to the Detroit Lions’ active roster on October 15th. He signed back to the Bengals’ practice squad on December 18th and was elevated to the active roster for Sunday’s win over the Cleveland Browns. This move gives the Bengals some added depth in light of Sam Hubbard’s PCL injury, which will likely end his season.
Woodside, a fifth-year player, spent the first 13 games of this season on Cincinnati’s practice squad, then had signed to the active roster on December 14th. The team will likely try to re-sign him to the practice squad, which now has a vacant spot with Thomas’ elevation to the 53-man roster.
