Janarius Robinson was arrested in February
The hits keep coming for the Las Vegas Raiders.
With massive injuries, a 10-game losing streak and a recent arrest for alleged drunk driving, the team is now seeing a rotational player facing a season-ending three-game suspension by the NFL.
The league announced Tuesday afternoon that Raiders defensive end Janarius Robinson has been suspended for three games. There, of course, are just three games remaining this season for the 2-12 Raiders. Thus, his suspension begins in Week 16 when the Raiders host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
The suspension is for violating the substance abuse policy. Robinson was arrested for suspicion of drunk driving on the Las Vegas Strip in February, according Las Vegas television
The station reported that Robinson was taken into police custody just before 6 a.m. PT, having been arrested at the valet area of the Aria Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.
Robinson, 25, was promoted from the practice squad for the final six games of the 2023 season. He had one sack and eight tackles. He has been on the Raiders’ roster all season and he played in 10 games. He had half a sack and five tackles. He played six defensive snaps Monday night in a 15-9 loss to the Atlanta Falcons and had an assisted tackle.
The Robinson news comes a week after fellow Raiders’ defensive end Charles Snowden was arrested for alleged drunk driving in Las Vegas. Snowden was held out of the Atlanta game.
Assuming he’s back this week, the Raiders will have Snowden, K’Lavon Chaisson and Tyree Wilson at defensive end unless they add to the position with Robinson out.
The Raiders’ have had a troubling trend of arrest for driving under the influence since moving to Las Vegas in 2020. Among the arrests was the horrific 2021 crash involving 2020 first-round draft pick Henry Ruggs that killed a 23-year-old woman and her dog. Ruggs was immediately released and is currently serving a prison sentence in Nevada.
Last season, safety Roderic Teamer was released after being arrested for DUI hours before a game. Teamer, now with New Orleans, was recently suspended for three games by the league.
