Philadelphia can officially clinch the NFC East with a win or tie in Week 16.
The Philadelphia Eagles opened as 3.5-point road favorites in their Week 16 game against the Washington Commanders, according to FanDuel.
The Eagles have won a franchise-record 10 games in a row and one of those victories came over the Commanders back in Week 11. With the Eagles trailing by four points entering the fourth quarter, Saquon Barkley broke two big touchdown runs to put his team up by a score of 26 to 10 before Washington tacked on a garbage time TD (plus two-point conversion) with 0:28 remaining in that game.
If the Eagles can manage to beat the Commanders again, they’ll officially clinch the NFC East next Sunday. The Birds nearly wrapped up the division in Week 15 with Washington coming very close to losing to the New Orleans Saints. The Saints (correctly) went for a two-point conversion to attempt to beat the Commanders in regulation but the try was unsuccessful with no time remaining. That Washington struggled against a Saints team quarterbacked by the combination of “Jake Haener” and Spencer Rattler certainly feels noteworthy.
The Commanders will be motivated to prevent the Eagles from clinching the NFC East in their own stadium; Washington figures to put up a good fight. But the Eagles evidently have what it takes to beat them.
The feeling here is that it could be a close one.
