Rams must savor the 49ers’ collapse

The 49ers can’t get out of their own way and it’s going to cost them a playoff spot

The San Francisco 49ers have dominated the Los Angeles Rams under Kyle Shanahan with a 10-7 record all-time. Now, the tide appears to be shifting in the NFC West and the Rams must savor every bit of it as they watch their rivals and the defending conference champs fall further out of contention.

I speak for every member of the Turf Show Ramily when I say that it’s ABOUT DAMN TIME!

For years, the 49ers have tormented the Rams as they have assembled a super team in the Bay Area. Thursday’s loss was the Niners’ third straight to LA, only I’m sure a chunk of their fanbase won’t count last year’s season finale started by Carson Wentz. The defeat also continued a troubling trend that Kyle Shanahan’s team has issues with choking away fourth quarter leads. Oh boo-hoo, that’s too bad!

Last night’s game served as an analogy for the Whiners’ rough campaign, and it truly couldn’t have happened to a more deserving team.

During the third quarter, veteran linebacker De’Vondre Campbell refused to enter the game after losing his starting role, and his (soon-to-be former) teammates torched him for giving up on them. Resident loudmouth and candidate for the NFL’s most overrated player Deebo Samuel had a big drop on third down with the game tied 3-3 in the third quarter after complaining about his usage earlier in the week.

On top of that, absurd rumors are floating around about Shanahan possibly being traded to fill a head coaching vacancy. Despite all the internal strife and outside noise, Shanahan insists that he has not lost the locker room. Maybe that’s true, but his statement will continue to be questioned amid each mounting and glorious loss.

Shanahan will not be traded this offseason, nor should he be placed on the hot seat if the 49ers keep losing. Through it all, the Niners’ collapse has been more entertaining to watch than any blockbuster currently in theaters. My apologies “Wicked.”

The 49ers are Scut Farkus from “A Christmas Story;” you patiently wait for the bully to get his throughout the movie until Ralphie goes berserk and it’s just so satisfying. San Francisco has gotten the snot beat out of them repeatedly in ‘24, but instead of fighting back, like Scut, they sit there and take it as they wallow in their embarrassment.

It was expected that the Niners would experience a Super Bowl hangover after blowing their second 10-point lead to the Chiefs on the game’s biggest stage. All the NFL media has heard from the 49ers are excuses and this “woe is me” attitude which is so disappointing to see from such a historic franchise. Fans have been fed up with these sore losers since they were crying about the 2023 NFC Championship. It’s downright disgraceful and so painfully on-brand for a team that talks and talks and never says anything.

The 49ers can happily chirp as much as their happy asses please once they win their sixth Lombardi Trophy. Until then, Kyren Williams says the Rams are SF’s little brother no more.

Talk your crap Kyren as you and your teammates have earned it by sweeping their Californian foes. The Rams must savor every bit of the 49ers’ collapse in 2024, since much like everything else in the NFL, things can change in an instant.
