The Bengals have a Sunday afternoon clash with the Titans coming up.
The Cincinnati Bengals travel to Tennessee in what seems to be an annual tradition. This time, they face off against a familiar Titans group that includes Brian Callahan, Tyler Boyd, and Chidobe Awuzie.
So, how do they build on last week’s success and come home with the win?
Free Willie
The Bengals’ defense needs to create consistent pressure on Will Levis and even force him out of the pocket. This is not where he wins. He wins when he has time and rhythm and can sit in the pocket and deliver. They need to disrupt the receivers and throw off the timing of routes. Getting negative plays and putting the Titans off schedule will also be helpful, as it will make Levis even more uncomfortable.
Take an Early Lead and Build on It
If you put the Titans in a position where Levis has to go out and win the game for them, Tennessee fans are going to have a long and frustrating day. You want to take the run game away by lighting up the scoreboard. In the process, let Trey Hendrickson do what he does best and rush the passer over and over and over again.
Unleash Mike Gesicki
There are Mike Gesicki games, and there are non-Mike Gesicki games. When I look at this Titans secondary, it screams Mike Gesicki game!
I don’t see anyone in this defense that matches up favorably with the Bengals’ 6-foot-6 glorified receiver. Burrow should be looking for Gesicki over the middle, early, and often in this one.
Ride Chase Brown
Chase Brown is the Bengals’ Hansel in that he is so hot right now. Ever since Zack Moss went down with an injury, Brown has been a staple of this offensive lineup. He has shown explosive ability, and the Bengals have rewarded his efforts by finding more and more ways to get him the ball.
This evolution needs to continue, not just for this week, but for the team’s future success.
Anarumo vs. Callahan
Mano A Mano. The Bengals defensive coordinator faces off with the Bengals former offensive coordinator. The familiarity between the two is an interesting dynamic in this game.
They have talked a lot of shop together and faced off many times in practice. What do they know about each other? What have they been holding back? Most importantly, can one of them find the right moment to take advantage?
