Does that mean Dru Phillips or Deonte Banks is headed to IR?
The New York Giants are continuing to try and reinforce their injury-depleted roster. On Wednesday, the Giants reportedly signed cornerback Divaad Wilson to their 53-man roster from the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad.
A former undrafted free agent, the 6-foot, 195-pound Wilson played in two games for the Cardinals with one start in 2023 and appeared in two games this season, as well.
The Giants on Tuesday placed cornerback Tre Hawkins on IR and signed Greg Stroman off their practice squad to replace him.
Two other Giants’ starting cornerbacks are also dealing with injuries. Deonte Banks has a rib injury that has kept him out of the team’s last two games. Rookie slot cornerback Dru Phillips, who has excelled this season, has a shoulder injury. Dan Duggan of The Athletic reported Phillips’ injury could be a partially torn rotator cuff.
Wilson’s signing likely means an IR move for either Banks or Phillips, perhaps both, is imminent.
