Can the Chargers steal a win in Kansas City?
The Los Angeles Chargers will be taking on the Kansas City Chiefs for Sunday Night Football this week.
These teams seem destined for the postseason. The Chiefs have secured a spot, but they are the front-runner for the No. 1 seed. The Chargers then would only be a Wild Card team regardless.
This is still a good measuring stick for this Los Angeles team in its first year with Jim Harbaugh as head coach. Their defense has been one of the best in the league, and the quarterback is able to do enough with the weapons around him to guide this team to an impressive record of 8-4. Their defense is allowing the fewest points per game so far this season.
The Chiefs have ridden their defense to 11-1 (and some help from the refs late). Patrick Mahomes remains one of the best quarterbacks, but Travis Kelce isn’t getting any younger, and Hollywood Brown and Rashee Rice have been injured for most of the season. Even with that, they have the 11th-highest points per game in the NFL. That will win you plenty of games when your defense is giving up the eighth fewest points per game.
As a divisional game, you never know what can happen, and a win for the Chargers makes their postseason hopes almost a certainty. For Kansas City, it helps keep them ahead of the 10-2 Buffalo Bills for that top spot in the AFC.
