Nabers’ hip injury could sideline another key Giant

New York Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers “will try to play” on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints, according to an early-morning report from NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Nabers suffered a hip flexor during practice on Thursday and was listed as questionable.

Per Schefter, Nabers is expected to test the injury during pre-game warm-ups and would play “more of a limited role” even if he does dress.

Despite missing two games with a concussion, Nabers is sixth in the NFL with 75 receptions. His average of 7.5 receptions per game leads the league.

The Giants have already placed their best offensive lineman (Andrew Thomas) and defensive lineman (Dexter Lawrence) on IR. They waived their starting quarterback (Daniel Jones). They played quality pass rusher Azeez Ojulari and starting tight end Theo Johnson on IR.

They have already ruled cornerback Deonte Banks (rib), linebacker Bobby Okereke (back) and defensive tackle Rakeem Nunez-Roches (neck/shoulder) out for Sunday’s game, and starting left tackle Jermaine Elueumunor (quad) is doubtful. They added cornerback Cor’Dale Flott to an already-lengthy injury report on Saturday.
