Jets lose Breece Hall for Sunday’s matchup against the Dolphins

Braelon Allen is expected to get the majority of New York’s running back snaps on Sunday.

New York Jets running back Breece Hall has been a workhorse over the season’s first 12 weeks with 164 carries for 692 yards and four touchdowns. However, the Jets will be without their top running back Sunday, a major setback for the offense as Hall deals with a knee injury.

Hall, who averaged 5 yards per carry last week against the Seattle Seahawks, is New York’s most explosive playmaker with three runs of 20+ yards — two more than the rest of the offense combined.

With Hall sidelined, the Jets will rely on rookie Braelon Allen, a fourth-round pick who brings a physical running style. Allen has averaged 3.6 yards per carry this season, including 2.2 yards after contact, per FantasyPros. He’s topped eight carries just twice, last doing so on Nov. 27, when he managed 2.7 yards per carry on 12 attempts against the New England Patriots.

New York’s offense faces even more challenges with three of its five starting linemen — Morgan Moses (knee/shoulder), Alijah Vera-Tucker (ankle), and Olumuyiwa Fashanu (toe) — listed as questionable for Sunday.

The Jets head into Sunday’s matchup having lost eight of their last nine games, with injuries piling up across the offense. For the Dolphins, who’ve had 10 days to prepare after their Thanksgiving loss to the Green Bay Packers, this is a chance to regroup and build momentum for the season’s final stretch.
