Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 12/6/24

Kyren Williams has been nominated for the Los Angeles Rams to win the prestigious Walter Payton Man of the Year award. Among NFL players this is one of the highest honors and none other than Rams’ legend Steven Jackson presented the award to the third year running back.

You can watch the video in a few places below and I can put it here for convenience. I have no shame in admitting the video may have gotten to my eye ducts a bit. Whether you like the Rams or not this is the type of thing that can make someone choke-up and I would say that thought applies to all the teams and all of their nominees.

Whether or not Williams wins it’s an honor to be nominated and it’s a reminder that the NFL is truly more than football. You never know the impact you’ll have on someone else, and in my opinion the best NFL players are aware of that, and use their platform to make a positive difference.

Alright, I’ll get off my pedestal. Thanks for checking out Turf Show Times, please comment on whatever you’d like and happy Friday!

“Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams is the Rams’ 2024 Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee! Watch as Rams Legend running back Steven Jackson surprises him with the nomination. The Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award is presented by Nationwide.”

“I did something called 39 Wishes,” Jackson explained of his 2012 off-the-field work, speaking to a room full of players. “We were providing those children in our community a Christmas experience that they didn’t think they could get. This guy right here, I had a chance to meet him,” he says, gesturing to a photo of himself and a young child on display behind him. “No, I did not know he would become a Ram, and on his way to being a great.”

A title card then reveals that the child in that photo with Jackson is none other than Williams.

“Our buddy here is the Walter Payton Rams’ nominee for this season,” Jackson continues, as the clip cuts to a surprised and smiling Williams. “It’s special because all of us can make an impact on someone’s life. Kyren, you’ve done that. I pray that you all get to lift that Lombardi trophy one day, but if you don’t, be a champion in somebody else’s eyes. ‘Cause you never know who might be the next Mr. Williams.”

BILLS GAME WEEK: Buffalo heads to LA to face Rams Sunday (preview) (fingerlakes1.com)

“It’s Week 14 in the NFL, and the Buffalo Bills (10-2) are preparing to travel to Los Angeles to face the Rams (6-6) on Sunday at 4:25 p.m.

Buffalo is rolling right now, winners of seven straight, and coming off a dominating 35-10 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football that gave them their fifth straight AFC East title.

Los Angeles rallied for a 21-14 road victory over the New Orleans Saints last week, scoring all of its points in the second half. Despite their .500 record, the Rams have won five of seven.”

Random Ramsdom Fandom: UDFA can be our Taysom Hill (By CDNGolfer on Dec 4, 2024)

“While watching the Tennessee game last week I couldn’t help noticing the QB for Vandy. Even though they were outclassed, he showed a level of grit and determination that you see so infrequently that when you do, it makes you sit up and ask “Who is this guy?”

I found this video of his story filled with clips and I’ve watched it three times. This kid is special!I think we have held on to Bennett because of his college track record, but that was with an almost NFL calibre roster. This guy got into the SEC, somehow, and turned them on their ears. His victory over Bama was probably the biggest upset of the year but it wasn’t a fluke. This young man flat out balls.

His QB profile is lacking in a lot of areas, not the least of which is height. At 6’ 200 lbs he’s bigger that Bennett and only an inch shorter than Hill. He can throw the ball pretty well but it was a shot of him running the ball last week that caught my eye. A grounds eye view of him coming straight at the camera dodging and weaving and absolutely securing the ball. Both arms wrapped around it and I thought….wow.

Take a peek at the clip and let me know what you think. You can skip to the 7 minute mark if you don’t need the back story.”
