The Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers have become two of the NFC’s best teams over the past two seasons, and on Thursday night, they will clash in a high-stakes game in primetime.
The Lions (11-1) hold the NFC’s top seed, but despite their historic start, they don’t have much wiggle room in the conference. Both the Minnesota Vikings (10-2) and Philadelphia Eagles (10-2) are just a game behind them, and any slip up is a big danger to lose ground.
The Packers (9-3) are holding onto long odds to win the division, and if they lose to the Lions on Thursday, they are virtually eliminated from any chance at claiming the top spot in the NFC North.
Of course, both teams are fully expected to make the playoffs at this point—in fact, the Lions can clinch with a simple win. But both teams have much more on their mind than just getting into the postseason.
