The Miami Dolphins made a handful of roster moves on Wednesday afternoon.
The Miami Dolphins secondary took another hit on Wednesday afternoon when the team announced that cornerback Cam Smith would be placed on injured reserve. The former second-round pick of the 2023 NFL Draft (51st overall) has appeared in 21 games with the Dolphins, recording 18 tackles over the last two seasons.
Smith’s injury comes as veteran cornerback Kendall Fuller remains in concussion protocol — after suffering a second concussion this season — and nickel-cornerback Kader Kohou remains banged up after leaving Thursday’s game vs. the Green Bay Packers with a back injury.

With Smith being placed on injured reserve, the Dolphins signed rookie cornerback Jason Matire to the practice squad. Maitre entered the league as an undrafted free agent, signing with Miami back on May 14th. He spent the offseason and most of training camp with the team before being cut as one of Miami’s final roster cuts.
In addition to the secondary, Miami also signed an offensive lineman on Wednesday, inking veteran tackle Jackson Carman to the active roster. Carmen, 24, signed to the Dolphins practice squad on September 17th, 2024. Here’s what the Dolphins’ official site says about Jackson Carmen, Miami’s latest signing.
“Carman signed to Miami’s practice squad on Sept. 17, 2024 and has played in three games for the Dolphins. He has appeared in 25 career games with six starts in four seasons with Cincinnati (2021-23) and Miami (2024). He also appeared in seven postseason games with two starts with the Bengals. Carman originally entered the NFL as a second-round selection (46th overall) by Cincinnati in the 2021 NFL Draft. He played collegiately at Clemson (2018-20), where he appeared in 40 career games with 27 starts during his three seasons with the Tigers.”
