Is this the end of the Cordell Volson era?
There may not be many easy solutions for the Cincinnati Bengals (4-8) this year, but it seems Zac Taylor has begun the evaluation period by benching Cordell Volson for Cody Ford against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
On Monday, the head coach revealed that Ford would probably stay on the left guard.
Zac Taylor on Cody Ford replacing Cordell Volson at LG: “That was an opportunity that Cody has earned…. It was probably more about Cody than anything else.” Said he expects that lineup to stay the same moving forward.

As you can see in Ben Baby’s post, Taylor feels that Ford has earned the right to play. The coach didn’t want to diminish Volson’s contributions.
Ford didn’t have a great outing against the Steelers, but perhaps he will show himself to be an upgrade over Volson in the final five games of the season.
The season may be over (practically speaking), but it’s time for Cincinnati to at least find out what it has on its roster for next year.
Up next, the Bengals go to Dallas to face the Cowboys on Monday Night Football.
