Both teams suffered major losses to injury in Week 13. The Giants put star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence on season-ending IR with a dislocated elbow. The Saints lost tight end/quarterback Taysom Hill with a knee injury.
New Orleans suffered a seven-game losing streak of its own earlier this season, after which they fired head coach Dennis Allen and replaced him with interim head coach Darren Rizzi. The Saints are 2-1 since that move, but are coming off a 21-14 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, their first under Rizzi.
