After a rocky Week 12 performance, Lions cornerback Kindle Vildor had a strong outing during their Thanksgiving day win over the Bears.
If you are reading this, then chances are you are well-aware of how much injuries have hurt this 2024 Detroit Lions team. Defensive end Aidan Hutchinson was naturally the headliner when he went down during their blowout win over the Dallas Cowboys, but the extent of the Lions’ injury issues extend far beyond that—especially as of late.
With the rash of injuries, depth players have been called upon to, “Hold the line,” as Lions coach Dan Campbell would put it. You might not get the reps during the week of practice, but when the time comes and you are called upon, you better be ready to step up.
And throughout the course of the Lions’ 10-game winning streak, players like cornerback Kindle VIldor have stepped up to the plate. Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press wrote about Vildor’s performance against the Bears after a rough outing against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12.
“I was hoping they didn’t call another crazy pass interference, that’s what I was hoping,” the Lions cornerback told two reporters in the locker room after the game. “But shoot, I’m glad we was able to fight through adversity and get the victory.”
We were hoping the same thing, Kindle. You can read the entire article from Birkett right here. ($)
And now, onto the rest of today’s notes:
- Anytime Brian Baldinger is breaking down the Lions offense, you stop and watch.
.@Lions @ChicagoBears @peneisewell58 on a reverse pass/run option. I have a suspicion that he isnt done touching the football this season. #OnePride #BaldysBreakdowns pic.twitter.com/5GZFjL9QXH

- As the years continue, more and more franchises are going to look to emulate what has been accomplished in Detroit.
A decision-maker planning a coaching change for ‘25 emphasized a trend they aim to bring to their team: a physical brand of football. Highlighting teams like the Chiefs, Packers, Lions, he noted that this season has shown importance of a strong running game as part of winning.

- Since this is likely just speculation from Adam Schefter, I would say to take this chatter with a grain of salt.
“Everybody’s gonna have their eyes on Ben Johnson, the Lions offensive coordinator, and I think he might have some interest in that job. We’ll see if they can convince him to come to Chicago.” https://t.co/chkhZcrJzK

- The fact that Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson still accounts for 30% of the team’s sacks is pretty mind boggling.
Trey Hendrickson has 61% of all of the Bengals sacks
That is the largest % this year by a WIDE margin
Players with the next highest % of their team’s sacks:
Travon Walker: 36%
Maxx Crosby: 33%
