Rams Reacts Results: LA can’t afford to overlook the struggling Saints

New Orleans may be 4-7, but this is a must-win for the Rams so they cannot risk taking their opponents lightly

The Los Angeles Rams were underwhelming in their conference loss to the Eagles, a game which saw Philadelphia RB Saquon Barkley set an Eagles franchise record with 255 yards rushing while crushing the LA fan base’s confidence in the team at the same time. The Rams are still in the postseason hunt, but barely, and now fall another game back in the hunt for the division lead.

According to our fan survey, confidence in the team has tanked again, going from 87% last week to just 48% this week. The rollercoaster up-and-down confidence votes continue, as the Rams improved defense took a huge step backwards, completely folding to Philly’s run game.

WR Puka Nacua was really the only bright spot in the game as far as the Rams go. The second-year wideout continued his on field dominance with another nine receptions and 117 yards. Since his return from IR a few weeks ago, Nacua has gotten at least seven receptions and at least 98 yards receiving in four out of his five games back, totaling 465 yards in just the same five game time span.

The Rams will now travel to New Orleans to face the struggling saints, however they cannot overlook the 4-7 team, as this game has become an absolute must-win for Los Angeles. It’s also not a great time for their defense to be struggling against the run, as Saints Swiss army knife QB/RB/TE Taysom Hill is coming off a 138 yard, 3 TD rushing performance vs the Browns. He also contributed an additional eight catches for 50 yards through the air.

Even with their rush defense issues, nationally the Rams still hold the advantage over the Saints with most. At the time of this article, LA comes into Sunday’s game as slight favorites over the Saints at -2.5 according to FanDuel. That pretty much coincides with the confidence vote, as 70% of those surveyed say they are taking the Rams to cover.

Los Angeles is facing a tough schedule coming up, including a showdown with Buffalo and three more divisional games. The Rams have to take care of the details and continue to stack wins, especially when it’s a game that the team should win. Don’t get me wrong, any team can win on any given Sunday, but for the most part the good teams win the majority games that they are expected to. The Rams are expected to get this one, now they need to go out and prove they’re one of the good teams and win it.
