Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …
The Best NFL Bets for Week 13: And Now the Season Begins – The Ringer
Philadelphia Eagles at Baltimore Ravens (-3). The game of the week has the potential to be the game of the year. I have my doubts about Jalen Hurts and Philadelphia’s passing offense, but the Eagles’ statistical profile looks just as good as any team in the NFL. Philadelphia leads in explosive play differential at plus-29, while Detroit is second at plus-20. The offense isn’t quite top five overall, but remains a top-10 unit in EPA per drive. The biggest difference between the 2023 Eagles and the 2024 Eagles is not Saquon Barkley. It’s the defense. Since the Eagles’ bye in Week 5, only the Lions have a better EPA per drive allowed. Last season, the defense was completely and utterly broken as the secondary aged and the defensive line struggled to generate pressure. This season, the Eagles are boosted by their excellent young corners and a pass rush that applied constant pressure to Matthew Stafford on Sunday night. Philadelphia excels at preventing explosive plays compared to Baltimore. The Ravens have a clear weakness and that unit has struggled to make key stops all season long. Both teams are likely to focus on establishing the run early, which could lead to a slower start in terms of scoring and pace. The Eagles had trouble with their script all season. The betting market suggests that the Ravens are slightly better than the Eagles by a point or two, but I disagree. I will be betting on the Eagles +3 and the first half under. Verdict: Bet Eagles +3 (-110) and first half under 25.5 points (-110).
Eagles Injury Report: DeVonta Smith upgraded to limited participation – BGN
The Eagles listed two players under LIMITED PARTICIPATION: DeVonta Smith and Kelee Ringo. Smith being upgraded to limited is a pleasant surprise. Maybe he’ll be able to play on Sunday? The Eagles having both A.J. Brown and DeVonta available against a struggling Ravens pass defense would be a big deal.
NFL Week 13 picks, schedule, odds, injuries, fantasy tips – ESPN
Fantasy X factor: Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert finished with only 5.9 fantasy points last week, as the Eagles didn’t need to pass thanks to Barkley’s 46.2-point performance. That should change against the Ravens in a high-scoring matchup. Baltimore’s defense allows the fourth-most receiving yards per game to tight ends.
Eagles-Ravens player matchups to watch in Week 13 – NBCSP
Nolan Smith vs. Roger Rosengarten. Jackson has been sacked just 16 times this season, which is 26th in the NFL. But if there’s one matchup to really exploit on that line it’s rookie right tackle Roger Rosengarten. He has given up 3 sacks and 24 pressures this season, per ProFootballFocus. According to NextGen Stats, Rosengarten has allowed a 13% pressure rating, which is the 4th-highest in the NFL among right tackles with at least 150 pass blocking snaps. The Eagles are a bit short-handed at edge rusher these days after putting Bryce Huff on IR after wrist surgery and then losing Brandon Graham for the season with a torn triceps. So they’re down to Josh Sweat, Nolan Smith, Jalyx Hunt and the recently-claimed Charles Harris. Smith plays most of his snaps on the left side of the line, though, so he’ll have the opportunity to rush against Rosengarten.
Analyzing the matchups that could define the NFL in Week 13 – PFF
The catalyst for whoever wins this war in the trenches is Jalen Hurts’ play. The Eagles signal-caller has fared decently in avoiding sacks, being taken down on only 20.3% of pressures — which feels low relative to how much he’s been under duress. But Hurts has not fared well under pressure, as reflected by his 46.4 PFF overall grade — which ranks 31st out of 38 qualifying quarterbacks. Will Jones, Madubuike and recently activated Michael Pierce break through the middle of Philadelphia’s offensive line to throw Hurts off his spot? Or will Hurts have adequate time to sit in the pocket and potentially attack the Ravens’ weaker secondary? Whoever emerges victorious in that micro-war will probably get the edge in his high-stakes game.
Game Review – PHI 37, LAR 20 – Iggles Blitz
Jalen Hurts was 15-22-179 with 1 TD. That was a good throw to AJ. The only notable issue was when Hurts missed a wide open Goedert in the end zone. The pass was just a bit overthrown. Hurts made good decisions and was very effective as a scrambler. The Rams young DL got upfield at times and left Hurts with easy running lanes. He finished 12-39 on the ground. Saquon was sensational. You’ve seen the long TD runs a ton by now. As I re-watched the game, a lot of short and intermediate runs stood out to me. His combination of lateral agility, strength and burst makes him special. Think of this. He had TD runs of 70 and 72 yards. If you took them out, he still went 24-113. That’s a good game. The long runs made it a great game and put him squarely in the MVP race. Barkley was 4-47 as a receiver. The biggest play was a screen that went for 31 yards. There was another screen that might have worked, but Barkley slipped. I think he did that to prove he’s human. His highlight catch came in the red zone.
Eagles players get interviewed by kids – PE.com
Emerson and Bryson Graham will melt your heart as they put Eagles players, including their dad, Brandon, and Head Coach Nick Sirianni through the wringer in a way that only kids can.
Ravens tight end expected to go on injured reserve with broken arm – Baltimore Beatdown
Kolar has grown into a run-blocking role and has been significant in drives for the Ravens this season, making the occasional play. While most teams’ third tight end role isn’t massive, the Ravens love to use all their tight ends available and have typically rostered three guys all season in the Lamar Jackson era. The Ravens have Mark Andrews, Isaiah Likely, and Patrick Ricard on the roster so they don’t need to add somebody, but it sounds like John Harbaugh will look to fill the spot instead of adjusting around the injury.
Film Session: Where the Commanders offense went wrong against the Cowboys – Hogs Haven
As the Commanders turn the page toward their week 13 opponent, the Tennessee Titans, they can’t afford to go into the matchup without patching up several holes hindering their once elite offensive unit, which was all but mediocre over the last couple of weeks. Washington has run into some quality defenses, though, specifically defensive units that can provide a variety of matchup problems. Three weeks ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers created interior and edge pressure while holding Washington under 60 yards rushing in the game. Just a couple of days later, the Philadelphia Eagles dominated the line of scrimmage, holding Washington’s offense to just 264 total yards while having the secondary to stifle Terry McLaurin and interior pressure to keep Jayden Daniels uncomfortable as a dropback passer. The Dallas Cowboys, while drastically worse than both the Steelers and Eagles, had an excellent pass rush scheme that exploited the interior of Washington’s offensive line.
Dallas Cowboys beat New York Giants recap: Cowboys shine on Thanksgiving Day from start to finish – Blogging The Boys
Seeing the Cowboys dominate a team from start to finish is a rarity these days so seeing it all unfold was a riveting experience. Even if this season does wind up truly lost as it seems destined to… that someone like DeMarvion Overshown announced himself to the world in another way is a very important piece the future, whatever it is, can build upon. What’s more is that this Cowboys team who we have all said a number of different things about has now locked in and won two straight games against division rivals in a five-day stretch. They are a group with pride and a will to stand up after getting knocked down which is admirable at the very least.
Cowboys outlast Giants for first home win of season, eye improbable playoff run: ‘Why not us?’ – NFL.com
“To be honest, it’s really been why not us?” pass rusher Micah Parsons mused to Fox Sports’ Erin Andrews after the Thanksgiving Day victory. “Everybody counted us out, and it was just like, enough’s enough. We know what we got, we know what we can do here, and I believe in every one of these guys, and I believe we’re gonna turn it around and make a run.”
Giants-Cowboys ‘Kudos & Wet Willies’: At least there are ‘Kudos’ this week – Big Blue View
Kayvon Thibodeaux — Three penalties, two offside penalties and a roughing the passer call. He might have had a fourth, except that Elijah Chatman got called for offside before Thibodeaux did. Two quarterback hits and one assist on a tackle don’t make up for that.
New York Giants are the first NFL team eliminated from the playoff picture – SB Nation
On Thanksgiving Day, the New York Giants earned the dubious distinction of being the first team eliminated from the NFL Playoff Picture. They didn’t even make it to December.
