Here are some live updates from the Las Vegas Raiders game at the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday:

First quarter

  • The Raiders won the coin flip, but deferred to the second quarter. The Chiefs connected on a third and 8 play (the Raiders were offsides and Kansas City declined the penalty) on a pass from Patrick Mahomes to tight end Travis Kelce to get into Las Vegas territory. The Chiefs settled for a short field goal to take a 3-0 lead with 10:06 remaining in the quarter after stalling in the red zone. It was a13-play, 66-yard drive.
  • A Jackson Powers-Johnson hold killed the Raiders’ first drive and they ended up punting. Raiders’ star punter A.J. Cole pinned the Chiefs down at their 1-yard line, but another Raiders’ penalty erased it. Cole could duplicate his success on the second punt.
  • On the Chiefs’ second drive, Kansas City was flagged twice, but Raider killer, Travis Kelce had a big drive and converted on first in Las Vegas territory. Yet, the Chiefs committed a third big penalty and had to punt, completely killing themselves.
  • The quarter ended with Kansas City standout linebacker Nick Bolton getting banged up. He stayed in. The Chiefs lead 3-0 going into the second quarter.
  • Second quarter
  • AIdan O’Connell showed his thumb is fine after missing four games as he connected deep with wide receiver Jakobi Meyers on a 43-yard play. Meyers had 86 yards receiving two minutes into the second quarter.

  • The Raiders stalled inside the Chiefs 10 and O’Connell was sacked on third down, so they settled for a Daniel Carlson field goal to tie the game at 3-3 with 11:03 to go. But it pretty encouraging for the Raiders after the Chiefs’ second drive stalled to be able to tie the game.
  • Then, K’Lavon Chaisson sacked Mahomes to force a quick Kansas City punt. The Raiders’ defensive line looks sharp.
  • D.J. Turner started the Raiders’ drive with a nice punt return. Bolton dropped a pick by O’Connell. Then. Carlson missed on a 56-yard field goal attempt with less than six minutes to go in the first half.
  • The Chiefs quickly went down the field and Mahomes hit receiver Justin Watson for the first touchdown of the game to give Kansas City a 10-3 lead with 2:10 to go in the first half.
  • The Chiefs missed a 59-yard field goal to end the first half with a 10-3 lead.

Third quarter

  • The Raiders went for it on fourth and 1 was was stuffed, turning the ball over to Kansas City,
  • The Chiefs got a big run by Isiah Pacheco to get into the Raiders’ red zone. But Mahomes dropped the ball and fell on it while evading pressure and lost a bunch of yards. Kansas City settled for a field goal to take a 13-3 lead with 8:40 remaining in the quarter.
  • After the Chiefs jumped off sides on third and 10, Raiders’ star rookie tight end made a one-handed catch at the Chiefs’ 25-yard line despite being interfered with. What a stud. But the drive was stalled when O’Connell took a bad 15-yard sack on third down and Carlson missed a 55-yard field goal to keep it a 13-3 Kansas City lead.
  • Mahomes hit DeAndre Hopkins for 31 yards to set up another field goal as Kansas City took a 16-3 late in the third quarter.

  • Ameer Abdullah then broke a long kickoff return to the Chiefs’ 26-yard line. Then, After the Raiders went backwards Bowers beat double coverage for a 33-yard touchdown to make it a 16-10 game with about a minute remaining in the quarter.

Fourth quarter

  • The Raiders took a 17-16 lead early in the fourth quarter when O’Connell hit receiver Tre Tucker on a 58-yard touchdown as Chiefs’ Justin Reid fell down. That’s two 30-plus yard touchdown passes in a span of three offensive plays.
  • The Chiefs inside the 10-yard line but the Raiders sacked Mahomes for the fifth time, and Kansas City had to settle for a field goal to take a 19-17 lead with just under 10 minutes remaining.
