Detroit Lions’ David Montgomery and Amon-Ra St. Brown WILL PLAY vs. Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving, but there is a big surprise among Detroit’s inactives.

The Detroit Lions (10-1) have declared their inactives ahead of the Week 13 matchup with the Chicago Bears (4-7) on Thanksgiving Day.

With teams playing on a short week, any injury puts a player at risk of missing this Thursday’s game and the Lions unfortunately pay the price, as starters LT Taylor Decker and CB Carlton Davis were ruled OUT on Wednesday. Additionally, WR Kalif Raymond’s foot injury from Week 12, is as significant as expected and he was placed on injured reserve, though he is expected to return this season. The Lions promoted three players from the practice squad to help soften the injury impact, signing WR Maurice Alexander and LB David Long, while also elevating OT Jamarco Jones for this game.

Emmanuel Moseley not being active is a bit of a surprise, especially considering that Davis is out. At this time, we do not know if there is a specific reason he was held out beyond game strategy.

On a positive note RB David Montgomery (shoulder) and WR Amon-St. Brown (knee) have both been cleared to play and will start in this game. Both Montgomery and St. Brown insisted they would play in this game, but a questionable designation left some doubt. That being said, it’s a bit of a revenge game for Montgomery as the Lions are hosting his former team, and it probably would take more than an injury to keep him out of this game.

For this week’s game, because the Lions have eight offensive linemen active for Sunday’s game, they are eligible to expand their game-day roster from 47 to 48 players. Therefore, with 54 players on the game-day roster and 48 eligible to play, the Lions need to declare just six players inactive for today’s matchup.
