Tim Boyle added to roster as third quarterback
The Daniel Jones era with the New York Giants is officially over as the team has jumped through the procedural hoop of waiving the quarterback. The Giants activated edge defender Kayvon Thibodeaux from IR.
The Giants also made two other moves. Edge defender Tomon Fox was waived, and quarterback Tim Boyle was signed to the 53-man roster from the practice squad.
So, Boyle replaces Jones and Thibodeaux replaces Fox.
Thibodeaux has missed five games since suffering a fractured wrist. He has 2.0 sacks in five games played this season.
It is uncertain how many snaps Thibodeaux will be able to play, but he figures to rotate in some fashion with Brian Burns and Azeez Ojulari.
Boyle was signed to the practice squad earlier this week after Jones was removed from the starting lineup.
The 30-year-old Boyle has played in 22 games with five starts in a six-year career that has seen him play for the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, New York Jets, and Miami Dolphins. He appeared in two games for the Dolphins this season, completing 15 of 26 passes.
Fox, who likely will land back on the practice squad, has played in five games this season with a sack and three tackles.
