The Miami Dolphins have their first winning streak of the 2024 NFL season after defeating the visiting Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday by a score of 34-19 to bring the squad’s record to 4-6 on the year.
Miami’s passing attack led the way as quarterback Tua Tagovailoa completed 28 of 36 passes for 288 yards and three touchdowns.
However, two of those touchdowns and 101 of those passing yards went to free agent addition tight end Jonnu Smith!
Miami Dolphins Week Eleven MVP – Jonnu Smith
Smith was signed by the Dolphins this offseason to add a new wrinkle to their passing offense — a unit that had been dominated for a couple of seasons by two speedster wide receivers in Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill.
Smith — a speed merchant at the tight end position — got off to a slow start this season. But who didn’t with this offense put on blocks during week two with Tagovailoa’s latest concussion issue?
But since the Dolphins got their starting quarterback back in the mix, Smith has been a major contributor to the team’s success — even outpacing the production from Miami’s supposed number two receiver in Waddle.
According to David Furones of the Sun Sentinel, Jonnu Smith’s game on Sunday against the Raiders was the first time a Dolphins tight end had gone for over 100 yards while catching two touchdowns in a single game sine the 1970 AFL-NFL merger.
Now, that’s a performance worth recognizing!
