The move to bench Jones was pretty widely expected over the bye week. Not only is Jones coming off of a poor performance against the Carolina Panthers, but he had already been benched for the fourth quarter against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The bye week following the trip to Munich is a natural break point to make such a significant change.
It remains to be seen who will start for the Giants in Jones’ place.
In a recent survey, 57 percent of the Big Blue View community responded that they want to see Tommy DeVito retake the reins of the Giants’ offense. DeVito was exciting and won three games in his stint as a starter last year, which could provide another spark for the team and fans.
The team could also give the first chance to start to Drew Lock, who has been the back-up quarterback this season. Lock — as the QB2 — has likely been taking more snaps with more starters in practice than DeVito. That could make the transition go more smoothly for the other players in the huddle.
