The Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Chargers will battle it out on the latest installment of “Sunday Night Football.” Come chat with us in our open thread.
The Cincinnati Bengals (4-6) are traveling west to take on the Los Angeles Chargers (6-3) in a battle for positioning in the AFC Wildcard race. These two teams have met 38 times in their histories, with the Chargers holding a 22-14 regular season lead and a 1-1 split in the playoffs.
The Bengals’ offense has caught fire of late and while they’ve lost two of their last three games, they scored 92 points over that span. Joe Burrow has been slinging it and Ja’Marr Chase has been his primary weapon. Just last week against the Ravens, Burrow targeted Chase 17 times, producing 11 receptions for 264 yards, and three touchdowns.
The Chargers are on a three-game win streak, and their offense has been averaging 26 points per game. While not as impressive as the Bengals’ production, it’s been more than enough considering how their defense has been playing. In Week 3, the Steelers managed to score 20 points on LA, but the Chargers defense has held their other eight opponents to 17 points or less, and are averaging just 13.1 points allowed per game, best in the NFL.
Betting line and pick for the game
The folks over at FanDuel Sportsbook are slightly favoring the home team in this game with the betting line being set at Chargers -1.5 points
This has all the makings of a close game where each team’s strengths will square off. While I think the Bengals have the firepower to put up the most points the Chargers have allowed this season, I also think the Chargers offense can keep pace.
Prediction: Chargers 24-23
