Sunday afternoon reference material.
The eleventh Sunday of the 2024 NFL regular season is here! Let’s run through a Philadelphia Eagles-focused rooting guide for all of the Week 11 games.
HUNT FOR THE FIRST-ROUND BYE
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS at DETROIT LIONS: The Jags are 13.5-point road underdogs, so, this would be a massive upset. But it’d be great to see Doug Pederson help his former team. The Eagles need the Lions to lose in order to catch up to Detroit for the No. 1 seed. Root for the Jaguars.
NFC PLAYOFF PICTURE
GREEN BAY PACKERS at CHICAGO BEARS: The Eagles would rather see Minnesota win the NFC North instead of Green Bay or Detroit. They’d also much prefer Chicago making the playoffs as a wild card team over Green Bay. Root for the Bears.
MINNESOTA VIKINGS at TENNESSEE TITANS: The Vikings winning the NFC North is preferable to the realistic alternatives. Also, the Titans losing keeps them ahead of the Cowboys and gives them a chance to move ahead of the Giants in the 2025 NFL Draft order. Root for the Vikings.
ATLANTA FALCONS at DENVER BRONCOS: The Falcons winning the NFC South is preferable to Tampa taking over first place in this division. Root for the Falcons.
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS at SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS: Seattle is clearly less threatening than San Fran. Root for the Seahawks.
DRAFT POSITIONING
The Eagles want to see the Giants and Cowboys pick up some meaningless wins to ruin their draft positioning. They also want to see other teams stay/move ahead of them in the draft order.
LAS VEGAS RAIDERS at MIAMI DOLPHINS: The Raiders losing keeps them ahead of the Cowboys and gives them a chance to move ahead of the Giants in the 2025 NFL Draft order. Root for the Dolphins.
LOS ANGELES RAMS at NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS: The Patriots losing keeps them ahead of the Cowboys and gives them a chance to move ahead of the Giants in the 2025 NFL Draft order. Also, the Eagles want the Rams to win since 1) it’s preferable to see a non-Niners team win the NFC West and 2) a win works towards improving the Eagles’ strength of victory tiebreaker if the Birds can beat the Rams in LA next weekend. Root for the Rams.
CLEVELAND BROWNS at NEW ORLEANS SAINTS: The Browns losing keeps them ahead of the Cowboys and gives them a chance to move ahead of the Giants in the 2025 NFL Draft order. Root for the Saints.
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS at NEW YORK JETS: The Jets losing keeps them ahead of the Cowboys and gives them a chance to move ahead of the Giants in the 2025 NFL Draft order. Root for the Colts.
HOUSTON TEXANS at DALLAS COWBOYS: The Cowboys are currently set to pick at No. 11 in the 2025 NFL Draft order. The Eagles want to see Dallas ruin their draft positioning. Also, the Texans losing helps the Eagles since Philly owns Houston’s fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Eagles ideally want to see a non-Texans team (so, probably the Colts) win the AFC South. Root for the Cowboys.
WHAT’S LEFT
BALTIMORE RAVENS at PITTSBURGH STEELERS: The Eagles play the Ravens on the road in Week 13 before hosting the Steelers in Week 15. The Eagles probably have a better chance of beating the Steelers. If we’re to believe that’s the case, it’d be better to see Pittsburgh have the best record as possible for strength of victory tiebreaker purposes. Root for the Steelers.
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS at BUFFALO BILLS: Probably best to hope Patrick Mahomes doesn’t waltz to the No. 1 seed in the AFC. Root for the Bills.
CINCINNATI BENGALS at LOS ANGELES CHARGERS: The Bengals winning works towards improving the Eagles’ strength of victory tiebreaker since the Birds beat Cincy earlier this season. Root for the Bengals.
