Some notes
- Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker (left knee) was added to the injury report as a limited participant — and shortly after the report was filed, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said that Butker will have surgery on a torn meniscus.
- ESPN’s Adam Schefter added that Kansas City will sign kicker Spencer Shrader off the New York Jets’ practice squad for the time being. The 2024 undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame appeared in two games for the Jets, making both his field goals and all three of his extra points.
- Of course, if Butker lands on Reserve/Injured, he will miss a minimum of four games.
- Smith-Schuster (hamstring), running back Isiah Pacheco (fibula) and defensive lineman Charles Omenihu (ACL) are back. All three logged limited practice designations to Wednesday. Smith-Schuster was upgraded to full participation on Thursday.
- Smith-Schuster taking the field for two straight practices is a positive sign. Should everything go well this week, Smith-Schuster will return to play the Bills on Sunday. It is unlikely the Chiefs will have Pacheco or Omenihu.
- The Chiefs listed eight other players on their report, including quarterback Patrick Mahomes (ankle) and left tackle Wanya Morris (knee). Mahomes, Morris and the six others were full participants.
- It’s worth noting that defensive end Mike Danna (pec strain) — who returned last week —remained on the injury report as a full participant.
- Three Bills players missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday: tight end Dalton Kincaid (knee), wide receiver Keon Coleman (wrist) and right tackle Spencer Brown (ankle). Coleman was inactive last game, and the Bills have already said he won’t play against the Chiefs. Kincaid and Brown left early. Brown told reporters he will “hopefully” be able to play on Sunday.
- The Bills’ wide receiver Amari Cooper (wrist) was listed as a limited participant on both days. He’s missed Buffalo’s last two games.
- Linebacker Matt Milano (biceps) is on the Reserve/Injured list and was a limited participant on both Wednesday and Thursday. Like Coleman, Milano is expected to miss Sunday’s game against the Chiefs.
- The Bills listed 12 full participants, including quarterback Josh Allen (left hand).
