Week 11 opens up with a battle for the lead in the NFC East, as the Philadelphia Eagles (7-2) host the Washington Commanders (7-3) on “Thursday Night Football.” These rivals have met 178 times in their histories, with Washington holding a slight 88-85 lead in the regular season and a 1-0 lead in the playoffs, while the Eagles have the recency advantage, winning five of the last six matchups.
Washington has been one of the “feel-good” stories of the 2024 season, riding the hot hand of rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels to a stellar start to the year. Daniels has been great on the road this season, with a 76.9 completion percentage and a 116.2 passer rating.
The Eagles were 2-2 heading into their Week 5 bye, but have won five in a row since (second-highest NFC win streak behind only the Detroit Lions), and sit atop the NFC East for now. Jalen Hurts has been terrific over the last four games and is the first quarterback in NFL history with a passing touchdown, a rushing touchdown, and a passer rating of 100+ in each game, over that timespan.
Last week, the Eagles beat up the Cowboys—who hasn’t, am I right?—while the Commanders are looking to get back to their winning ways, after a heartbreaking ending against the Steelers last week.
Betting line and pick for the game
The folks over at FanDuel Sportsbook are favoring the home team in this game with the betting line being set at Eagles -3.5 points. I like the Eagles in this game but I am expecting it to be a tight matchup. I think Washington will make this an entertaining game to watch, but the Eagles likely have too many weapons to spot.
Prediction: Eagles 27-24
