Will the Eagles or Commanders win on Thursday Night Football?
The Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders will kickoff a second consecutive week with an intriguing game on Thursday Night football. Following last week’s matchup between the Bengals and Ravens, the Eagles and Commanders get the week started with a heated NFC East matchup. It will also be the last time the Eagles play before they play the Los Angeles Rams next week.
After a slow start, the Eagles have started to find their groove, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Over the past month, the Eagles have the best defense in the NFL via EPA. Saquon Barkley has also been a key contributor on offense while Jalen Hurts has gotten comfortable with AJ Brown back in the lineup. It looked like the second-half collapse was going to carry over into this year after the Eagles started 2-2, but are winners of five straight.
On the Commanders side, Jayden Daniels has been the most impressive rookie this season. Not much was expected of the Commanders in 2024, but with Daniels, they can take first place in the NFC East with a win. Dan Quinn has this team playing well while Kliff Kingsbury is calling a good offense. We’ll see if they can keep it up over the season’s second half.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Eagles are 3.5-point favorites at home in this matchup between the top-two teams in the NFC East. With this being a division game on a short-week, the Eagles should have the advantage in this one. Still, the Commanders will be one of the better teams that the Eagles have faced. While the Eagles may win, I see them winning by a field goal
The Pick: Commanders (+3.5)
Season Record: 13-18
