The Detroit Lions released Thursday injury report, and Carlton Davis has a new injury.

The Detroit Lions (8-1) and Jacksonville Jaguars (2-8) were back on the practice field on Thursday, as they prepare for an inter-conference battle in Week 11. After holding a walkthrough on Wednesday, the Lions were suited up for a full practice on Thursday and only one player was absent from the activities.

Let’s take a look at Thursday’s injury report and get you up to date with what we know. Note that any changes from yesterday’s report will be bolded.

No practice

  • TE Sam LaPorta (shoulder)

LaPorta missed Wednesday’s walkthrough and Thursday’s full practice, but the door isn’t quite shut on his availability for Sunday.

“It’ll be day-to-day,” coach Dan Campbell said on Monday. “But we don’t feel like this is something like, ‘Oh, man, this is going to be a long, nagging injury.’ I think we’ll get through it. I’m hopeful this week, but I can’t say that. He’s questionable.”

While it’s not ideal to miss two practices to start the week, it’s not unusual for players to return to practice on Friday and be ready to play on Sunday. For now, we will have to wait and see if LaPorta practices on Friday before we will get a better look at his status against the Jaguars.

Limited practice

  • CB Carlton Davis (hand) — NEW INJURY
  • S Ifeatu Melifonwu (ankle/finger) — Days remaining in evaluation window: 12 — NEW INJURY

Davis was not previously listed on this week’s injury report, so his addition on Thursday could mean one of two things. The first possibility is that he was injured at Thursday’s practice and could be facing a situation similar to Taylor Decker last week, where he only has a few days to recover from his injury. The other possibility is that Davis had a pre-existing hand injury (possibly from the last game, remember he missed a few snaps due to injury but was able to return) and the Lions are taking things slow with him this week. Either way, we won’t know anything further about his status until Friday morning, when Campbell speaks with the media.

Melifonwu now has a finger injury added to his status, likely indicating he suffered this injury while attempting to return from his ankle injury. It’s unclear how this will set him back—if it does at all—but it’s worth noting that he has another 12 days before a decision needs to be made on his status, so there is time for him to recover.

Full practice

  • LT Taylor Decker (shoulder) — upgraded
  • LB Malcolm Rodriguez (ankle) — upgraded
  • DT Brodric Martin (knee) — Days remaining in injury evaluation window: 5
  • CB Emmanuel Moseley (pec) — Days remaining in injury evaluation window: 12

Decker and Campbell both indicated that they believed the left tackle may be able to return to game action this week and a full practice is a great sign that may soon become a reality.

Rodriguez being upgraded to full is also a great sign, though after missing the last two weeks, the Lions may want him to stack another full practice before they fully clear him for a return to game action.

Martin and Moseley continue to work their way through the evaluation window, and with all having time remaining, the Lions are not tipping their cap as to when any of them may return. It’s worth noting that the Lions do have an open spot on their roster in case a move is made, which would most likely come on Saturday, if it happens this week.
