The Colts have elevated a former first round pick for veteran depth with wideout Michael Pittman Jr. already declared out on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.
The Indianapolis Colts announced on Saturday that veteran wideout Laquon Treadwell has been promoted to the 53-man active roster from the practice squad ahead of Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills:
We have elevated WR Laquon Treadwell to the active roster from the practice squad for #BUFvsIND.

The roster move makes sense because Treadwell provides another outside wideout, with starter Michael Pittman Jr. already ruled out with a balking back (and finger) injury that has limited his receiving production throughout the 2024 campaign.
It’s been a tough year for 2023’s leading wideout, as he has just 30 receptions for 366 receiving yards and 2 touchdown receptions during 9 games (7 starts) this season.
While Pittman Jr. still provides a lot of value as an outside blocker, his production as a receiver has clearly been diminished with the lingering back injury. The Colts considered a short-term injured reserve stint for him earlier, but Pittman Jr. wanted to play through it.
It appears the Colts are at least shutting him down for this week, perhaps because of his injured finger as well exacerbating matters.
Since being selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, the 6’2,” 215 pound veteran wideout, Treadwell, has become something of a journeyman—having appeared with at least 5 different NFL organizations and counting.
The 29 year old wideout has 111 receptions for 1,242 receiving yards (11.2 ypr. avg.) and 5 touchdown receptions during 81 career games (24 starts).
He was signed by the Colts this past offseason and spent training camp and preseason with Indianapolis—the latter where he really stood out with 10 receptions for 121 receiving yards (12.1 ypr. avg.) and a touchdown reception during all 3 exhibition games.
While it’s unclear if he’ll actually appear during Sunday’s game, he provides veteran insurance with NFL experience lower on the Colts wide receiver depth chart.
