A new pass-catcher for Joe Burrow.
The Cincinnati Bengals have claimed wide receiver Isaiah Williams on waivers from the Detroit Lions.
Williams, weighing in at 5-foot-10 and 185 pounds, is a rookie out of Illinois who was a college free agent signee of the Lions in May. He has played in two games this season, recording two receptions for six yards and one kickoff return for 36 yards. He was waived by Detroit on Thursday.
The Bengals didn’t have to make room for Williams after placing Zack Moss and Erick All Jr. on injured reserve earlier this week while only adding Khalil Herbert to the 53-man roster.
This is a curious move, as wide receiver is far from this team’s biggest needs right now. However, it is worth noting that Tee Higgins and Charlie Jones are battling injuries that kept them sidelined through Week 10. Perhaps Williams will be insurance in the event one or both of Jones and Higgins continue to miss games.
