At least Cincinnati is fun to watch.
Again, the Cincinnati Bengals (4-6) let the Baltimore Ravens (7-3) sneak back into the game and win a shootout, this time the score being 35-34.
So what did we learn this time around?
Burrow to Chase is almost enough to win
I don’t want to leave out Trey Hendrickson, because he’s having a phenomenal season.
But in games like this one, it’s really the chemistry and talent of Ja’Marr Chase and Joe Burrow that keeps the Bengals afloat.

And it was almost enough to win on the road against one of the best teams in the league.
If the defense could be 10% better, the Bengals would probably have a winning record.
Zac Taylor has lost faith in Evan McPherson
Going for it on 4th down is nice, but the head coach used to try a lot more 50-yard field goals before the 5th year kicker really started struggling.
Not only is this team’s only path to winning on offense, but it’s through the passing game and nothing else.
The o-line isn’t much better
In the big games against the good franchises, the o-line simply can’t hold up, and Burrow is getting absolutely hammered again. Sure, there have been injuries to the tackles, but everyone has those. The o-line lacks depth and the interior isn’t very good at all.

Out of 79 qualified guards this season, Cordell Volson ranks #79/79 in pressures allowed with 27 total.
Alex Cappa ranks #77/79 with 25
total pressures allowed. It is time to shift some chairs and give Matt Lee a chance at C.

It’s still not technically over for the Bengals, but Burrow trying to score over 30 points every game behind an inconsistent line isn’t a recipe for success.
