Report: Trevor Lawrence “Unlikely” To Play Against Vikings

It could be the Mac Jones Show

When the Minnesota Vikings travel to Duval County to play the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday, the home team might have to play without its biggest star.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence continues getting treatment on his non-throwing shoulder and is considered “unlikely” to play in this Sunday’s game. The Jaguars listed Lawrence as “limited” in Wednesday’s practice on their injury report.

If Lawrence cannot go, Jacksonville will turn to former first-round pick Mac Jones, who has thrown just nine passes in two appearances for the Jags this season. Jones spent his first three seasons in New England and had what might be his best career performance against the Vikings when the Purple hosted the Patriots on Thanksgiving night back in 2022. In that game, Jones completed 28-of-39 passes for a whopping 382 yards and two touchdowns in Minnesota’s 33-26 victory.

Of course, the Vikings’ defense has evolved just a bit since that night, and I’m sure that Brian Flores will have something special in store for Jones if he is, indeed, the starting quarterback on Sunday.

Not that it’s an indication of anything one way or the other, but the betting line for this game on FanDuel has gone from Vikings -4.5 to Vikings -6.5 since this news broke. The sharps seem to think that Lawrence will be on the sideline for this one.

What do you make of this news, folks?
