The Las Vegas Raiders have hired Norv Turner as a senior advisor on offensive as part of the coaching changes after the firing of Luke Getsy as the offensive coordinator. Let’s get to know him:
Last job:
He was a special assistant to the head coach for the Carolina Panthers in 2019.
Age:
72.
Coaching experience:
He began his coaching career in 1975. He was an NFL coach from 1985-2019 for several teams. He was an NFL head coach for 15 years for Washington, the Raiders and Chargers. He was the Raiders’ head coach for the late Al Davis in 2004-05.
Ties to the 2024 Raiders’:
His son, Scott Turner, is the Raiders’ interim offensive coordinator.
More experience:
Turner joins Marvin Lewis, Tom Coughlin and Joe Philbin former NFL head coaches as part of Pierce’s staff. Coughlin is not on the day-to-day staff.
His role:
Turner will be another voice on the coaching staff after the coaching flux and help his son navigate his role.
