Several teams will be trying to draft a quarterback in 2025

With the 2024 NFL season at midseason, we are getting a sense of what teams will try to improve at quarterback in the 20205 draft.

It is crystal clear the Las Vegas Raiders will be one of those teams. There is no doubt, the Raiders will try to draft a quarterback in the first round of the April draft. But they will not be alone. There will be several teams looking for a new quarterback. Let’s take a look at some of those teams (presented in alphabetical order):

Carolina Panthers:

This was unexpected going into the season, but the fact that Bryce Young, the No. 1 overall pick in 2023, has struggled badly and was benched for a while. This is likely a position of need for a team that will likely have a very high draft pick. This doesn’t help the Raiders.

Cleveland Browns:

The Deshaun Watson era was a disaster and it’s probably over. The Browns are are also headed for a high pick and could take a quarterback, which is not great for the Raiders, either.

Indianapolis Colts:

If the Colts don’t believe in 2023 first-round pick Anthony Richardson, who was benched last week, they could be players as well.

Los Angeles Rams:

Stafford is going to be 37 next year. It’s starting to be time that the Rams think about the future.

New Orleans Saints:

The Saints may want a new quarterback in 2025, but they have a difficult time making it happen. Cutting former Raiders’ quarterback Derek Carr (who will be 34 in 2025) would come with a ton of dead money and the Saints are seemingly always in a tough salary-cap spot, anyway. But if they don’t believe in Spencer Rattler, the Saints may look to draft a quarterback early.

New York Giants:

It looks like the Daniel Jones era may be coming to a close if the Giants are in position to take a quarterback high (and they should be), the will likely make that move.

New York Jets:

Aaron Rodgers turns 41 in December and he looks is age sometimes. The Jets may have to look for the future in the next draft.

Pittsburgh Steelers:

The Steelers have Russell Wilson and Justin Fields are free agents. So, if they get a chance, the Steelers may look to the future in the next draft.

Tennessee Titans:

Will Levis doesn’t look like the answer for a team that should have a chance to drat a quarterback early.

Seattle Seahawks:

Starter Geno Smith will be in his age 35 season in 2025 and it’s the final year of his contract. If the Seahawks have a chance to draft a quarterback early, they may take it.

Conclusion:
It’s still early, but it looks like the Raiders will have competition when it comes to adding a quarterback next offseason.
