Who Needs To Be Better For the Vikings Going Forward?

We asked and you answered

It’s time to take a look at the results for this week’s SB Nation Reacts survey about our Minnesota Vikings, and there’s quite a bit to get to this week, so let’s get started.

The first question for the week was, as it always is, whether or not you folks feel that the purple are moving in the right direction. After two straight losses and a season-ending injury to a critical member of the team, a drop-off was to be expected, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that it wasn’t as large as I thought it was going to be.

Nearly three-fourths of those who responded to our poll feel that the team is still moving in the right direction despite the recent stumbles. A full 74% of you responded in the affirmative, which is good to see. Usually after a loss we get a bit of a roller coaster when we ask this question but perhaps people have chilled out a bit. Hopefully after Sunday’s game we will see this number trend back upward.

Our second question for the week concerned what everyone thought the Vikings should do at the NFL Trade Deadline. Keep in mind that our survey was published literally just minutes before news of the Cam Robinson trade came down and we couldn’t change the question after that, but here are the results.

A solid 72% of you feel that the team should be “buyers” when the trade deadline comes around, whether that included the Robinson trade or anything that might happen as we get closer to Tuesday’s deadline. Second place went to those who feel the Vikings should stand pat with 24%, while just 4% of our respondents feel that the Vikings should be trying to sell off assets at the deadline.

We also asked who needs to get better, given that the team has just lost two straight games and not looked terribly impressive in doing so. There wasn’t a majority answer on this question, and things were actually pretty spread out as far as the answers are concerned.

A lot of you feel that this falls on the coaching staff in some way, with 35% of our respondents saying that defensive coordinator Brian Flores needs to step things up and 27% saying that they want to see the most improvement from head coach Kevin O’Connell. Sam Darnold received 26% of the tally in our poll question, while Jordan Addison came out with 13%. There were 9% of you who suggested that the player or coach who needed to improve the most was not listed amongst our options, and I’m curious to hear who some of you think that should be.

Last, but not least, we have a look at the Vikings’ Sunday Night Football matchup with Indianapolis courtesy of the folks from FanDuel. Just like last week against the Rams, the Vikings are expected to get back on the winning track this week.

This week, 85% of the money that has been placed on this game at FanDuel has been laid down on the Minnesota Vikings. Can the purple actually get it done this week? Man, I sure hope so.

Those are our SB Nation Reacts results for this week, ladies and gentlemen. We’ll have a couple more questions for you to ponder next week. As always, we want to thank everyone who took the time to participate in this week’s survey.
