This evening’s edition of Sunday Night Football features the traveling Indianapolis Colts and the hosting Minnesota Vikings. The Colts, who are 4 and 4 in second place, lost to the Houston Texans last weekend, 23 to 20. The Vikings, who sit at 5 and 2 and hold second place in their division, are likewise coming off a loss last weekend to the Los Angeles Rams, 30 to 20. One of the bigger storylines for this game will be the fact that the presumed future franchise quarterback of the Colts, Anthony Richardson, after taking himself out of last week’s game because he was “tired,” has been replaced by veteran quarterback Joe Flacco as the starter going forward.

—My Pick: While I think having Flacco under center gives the Colts a better chance, he is still an older, not-so-mobile quarterback going up against the second-best team in the NFL in QB pressures. Combined with the Vikings having the best run defense in the NFL, the Colts offense should be fairly well-controlled this evening, giving Minnesota the clear advantage in this game at home. Minnesota will cover the 5.5-point spread this evening on their way to their sixth win of the 2024 season.
