Slayton was injured in the Giants’ loss
New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton is in the concussion protocol.
Slayton left the field late in the fourth quarter of the Giants’ 27-22 Week 9 loss to the Washington Commanders. He seemed to suffer the injury when he hit the ground hard after being interfered with by a Commanders’ defensive back. He was slow to get up following the play and was helped into the blue medical tent for evaluation.
Slayton remains a starter in the Giants’ 11-personnel package has been a productive receiver for the Giants in 2024. He is currently third on the team in receptions, and second in yards. He’s also Daniel Jones’ most trusted deep threat and leads the team in yards per reception.
The Giants face a truncated timeline to get Slayton back before Week 10. The Giants will travel to Germany to face the Carolina Panthers. It’s a long way from New York to Munich, and it’s unknown if Slayton will be healthy enough for the trans-Atlantic flight.
It’s also unknown how Slayton’s injury will impact his potential market with the trade deadline looming.
Punt returner Ihmir Smith-Marsette was also evaluated for a concussion but cleared the protocol.
