The ninth Sunday of the 2024 NFL regular season is nearly here! Let’s run through a Philadelphia Eagles-focused rooting guide for all of the Week 9 games.
EAGLES GAME
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS at PHILADELPHIA EAGLES: The Eagles will be 6-2 with a win. Go Birds.
NFC EAST
DALLAS COWBOYS at ATLANTA FALCONS: The Cowboys, who host the Eagles in Week 10, will drop to 3-5 with a loss. It’d be ideal to see them stay down in the dumps with another loss. Root for the Falcons.
WASHINGTON COMMANDERS at NEW YORK GIANTS: The Eagles can overtake first place in the NFC East if they beat the Jags and the Commanders lose. As an added bonus, a Giants win only serves to damage New York’s draft positioning. Root for the Giants.
NFC PLAYOFF PICTURE
CHICAGO BEARS at ARIZONA CARDINALS: The Bears are the less threatening team in terms of wild card competition. But it’s preferable to see a non-Niners team win the NFC West and Arizona currently holds the division lead. Root for the Cardinals.
DETROIT LIONS at GREEN BAY PACKERS: The Lions are the NFL’s most imposing team. The Eagles don’t want to see them win the NFC North. Especially when Philly holds a head-to-head tiebreaker over Green Bay that could come in handy for seeding purposes. Root for the Packers.
LOS ANGELES RAMS at SEATTLE SEAHAWKS: The Seahawks currently have the better overall record but I’d argue the Rams have a better chance of actually winning the NFC West and keeping the division crown away from the Niners. Root for the Rams.
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS at MINNESOTA VIKINGS: The Eagles would rather see Sam Darnold win the NFC North over Jared Goff or Jordan Love. Root for the Vikings.
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS at KANSAS CITY CHIEFS: The Eagles don’t want to see the Bucs win the NFC South. Root for the Chiefs.
DRAFT PICK WATCH
HOUSTON TEXANS at NEW YORK JETS (Jets won on Thursday night): The Eagles want to see a non-Texans team win the AFC South since they own Houston’s fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. So, they’re glad the Texans lost to the Jets.
DRAFT POSITIONING
MIAMI DOLPHINS at BUFFALO BILLS: The Eagles want the Dolphins to move ahead of the Giants in the 2025 NFL Draft order. Root for the Bills.
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS at CAROLINA PANTHERS: If the Panthers win, that helps keep both the Saints and Panthers ahead of the Giants in the 2025 NFL Draft. Root for the Panthers.
LOS ANGELES CHARGERS at CLEVELAND BROWNS: The Eagles want the Browns to stay ahead of the Giants in the 2025 NFL Draft order. Silver lining to a Browns win is that it works toward improving the Eagles’ strength of victory tiebreaker. Root for the Chargers.
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS at TENNESSEE TITANS: If the Titans win, that helps keep both them and the Patriots ahead of the Giants in the 2025 NFL Draft. Root for the Titans.
WHAT’S LEFT
DENVER BRONCOS at BALTIMORE RAVENS: The Eagles play the Ravens later this season. The Eagles can boost their strength of victory tiebreaker by beating a Baltimore team that’s as good as possible. Root for the Ravens.
LAS VEGAS RAIDERS at CINCINNATI BENGALS: With the Eagles beating the Bengals, Philly’s strength of victory tiebreaker can be boosted by more Cincy wins. Also, the Eagles are rooting for the Raiders to stay ahead of the Giants in the 2025 NFL Draft order. Root for the Bengals.
