Ethan Evans will miss his first career NFL game due to illness
Rams punter Ethan Evans is sick and Sean McVay has already ruled him out of Sunday’s game against the Seahawks. L.A. added punter Ty Zenter to the practice squad earlier on Friday, releasing offensive lineman Mike McAllister in the process, even though the Rams already had Ryan Sanborn on the practice squad. One of those two punters will be elevated to play in Seattle this weekend.
Rams signed P Ty Zentner to practice squad, team announced. He is the second punter to be signed. Ethan Evans was out Wednesday because of illness, per special teams coordinator Chase Blackburn

Evans has been having a really good season and has improved two of his most important stats from his rookie season:
- His touchback rate has dropped from 11.1% to 4.3%
- His Inside-20 rate has increased from 31.7% to 52.5%
Sanborn is a rookie out of Texas, while Zentner went undrafted out of Kansas State last year and played in nine games with the Texans and Titans. The fact that the Rams would even feel they need Zentner seems to imply that they’re not ready yet with Sanborn or that he’s been a little inconsistent in practice.
