Head-to-Head Record – 8-18-1

Vikings Home Record v Colts – 8-6-1

Streak – W1

Most Points Scored – 52, Sep 28, 1969

Widest Margin of Victory – 38, Sep 28, 1969, 52-14

Most Recent Matchup – The largest comeback in league history. 39 – 36 Viking win in OT

My 2024 Prediction Record: 4-3

2024 Vikes Views Poll Record: 5-2, will you keep predicting Ws or is the faith waning?

The last time they played: The Vikings made the largest comeback in NFL history the last time these two teams faced each other. Matt Ryan and the Colts blew a 33-0 halftime lead. It was 33 – 0 until 8:22 left in the 3rd quarter. The Vikings should’ve easily won the game if the Refs (led by that moron from Thursday) didn’t call back two legit defensive TDs for the Vikings. It would say it’s the wildest game I have ever seen, but then the Vikes played Buffalo a few weeks later. Side note: I was at the casino for a Christmas weekend with a buddy of mine. He made a ton of money on the craps tables and I cleaned house with this game on Saturday and the World Cup Final the next day. I live bet the Vikings all the way down to 23 – 0 and then gave up after the Pick 6 to make it 30-0. The casino trip you dream of when you’re going, but rarely get.

Interesting Tidbits from the Vikings Weekly Release:

  • The Vikings are +62 in the 1st quarter. That’s 3rd best through 7th games (NE +65 in 2007 and +63 in 2019). It’s 23 points better than 2nd best Tampa (+39).
  • The Vikings are 5-0 when they outrush their opponents this year.
  • After never losing a game with an even or better turnover margin under Kevin O’Connell, the team has now lost the last two weeks without losing the turnover battle.
  • The Vikings have still trailed for the least amount of time in the NFL this season (54:06). They’re the only team under an hour of game time.
  • The Vikings are averaging 7.87 passing yards per play, 5th best in the NFL.
  • with Trent Sherfield Sr’s TD Thursday, the Vikings have had 7 different players score a TD this season. That’s 4th behind Baltimore, Buffalo and Tampa Bay who all have 8.
  • The Viking offense has converted 26.1% of 3rd and 10+ plays through Week 8. That’s 5th best behind Tampa Bay (29.6%), Indianapolis (29.0%), Houston (28.9%), and Washington (28.6%).
  • The Viking defense ranks 1st in the NFL in Interceptions (12), Interceptions / Attempt (4.2%), and Passes Defensed (45).
  • The Viking defense ranks 2nd in the NFL in Defensive Points Scored (18) and Takeaways (15).
  • The Vikings rank 3rd in opponent scoring efficiency, allowing just 22 scoring drives out of 80 (27.5%). That is behind only the Charges (23.4%) and Denver (25.5%).
  • The Vikings 24 sacks are tied for 4th most in the NFL. They are the only team in the top 10 in sacks that has only played 7 games.
  • The Vikings and the Giants are the only team with 3 players with 5 or more sacks (Grenard, Jones II, Van Ginkel). Denver and Houston are the only teams with 2 players with 5 or more sacks.

How I See it Playing Out

I’ll be waiting on all day for Sunday night. This game is one that makes me nervous. The team has an easier looking schedule coming up. There’s a chance they go on a 5 game run and launch themselves into the 1 seed discussion. There is also a chance this season goes off the rails. An easy win against a struggling Colts team is what the team needs. The Colts have beat the Bears, Steelers, Titans and Dolphins (without Tua). They lost to the Texans, Packers, Jags and Texans again. They’re competing with good teams. Every game this year has been a one score game. They just match their opponents level every game. It’s tricky. The team just benched 4th overall pick from 2023 Anthony Richardson. Joe Flacco is coming in and there is nothing the Vikings fear more than a backup QB. I can’t let the long history skew my view of the game. This team needs a win. KOC has struggled after brilliant 1st quarters. I think that trend ends after the mini bye. Thursday to Sunday Night Football is a long wait. Biggest win since they beat the Texans 34 – 7.

Vikings 31 – Colts 13
