How will this game turn out in primetime?
This week’s edition of Thursday Night Football is between two AFC teams on opposite sides of the spectrum.
The Houston Texans are expanding on their surprising success from last year, led by quarterback CJ Stroud, with a hot 6-2 start. Cincinnati Bengals fans are very familiar with one of the names responsible for their success this year. Running back Joe Mixon has 4.9 yards per carry, over 600 total yards, and five touchdowns in five games with the team. They may be relying on him even more tonight without wide receivers Nico Collins or Stefon Diggs, who are both injured. Diggs suffered a season-ending ACL tear last week.
The New York Jets are just looking for answers at this point. They are 2-6 coming off a loss to the New England Patriots this past Sunday.
They have to be wondering what else can be done. They changed who was calling the plays, they fired the head coach, they went out and got Aaron Rodgers, his former teammate Davante Adams. They’ve seemingly exhausted all options, and they have a razor-thin margin for error if they even have any left at all.
They have all the talent but have failed to put it all together thus far. Is tonight the night? To the surprise of many, FanDuel actually has the Jets favored by 2.5 points.
