Last game before a much needed bye week
We’ve hit the halfway point of the season as the Las Vegas Raiders have their Week 9 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals which is the Raiders’ last game before the bye week. That also means our Silver and Black Pride Pick’em competition is heating up as the leaders begin to separate themselves from the rest of the pack.
To get things started, let’s take a look at the lines for the Raiders-Bengals matchup, courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook, and make some picks.
Raiders vs. Bengals
- Spread: CIN +7.5
- O/U: 46.5
- CIN ML: -355
- LV ML: +285
Holder’s picks: LV +7.5, Under 46.5, CIN ML
The Raiders haven’t given me much reason to pick them to win outright has heavy underdogs, but I think they can cover against Cincinnati. The Bengals have struggled at home this season, owning a 0-4 record and they haven’t covered a spread at Paycor Stadium. So, I’ll take Las Vegas with the points on Sunday.
Pick’em Competition
Moving onto S&BP’s Pick’em competition, below is a look at how our writers have fared through eight weeks.
- Ray Aspuria 82-40 (67%)
- Matt Holder 82-41 (67%)
- Bill Williamson 81-42 (66%)
The competition between the writers continues to get tighter as the three of us are separated by just one game! Bill closed the gap by going 12-4 last week while Ray and I tied at 11-5. So, Ray maintains his half-game lead which means that convenient “forgotten pick” from several weeks ago still looms large. That’s not an excuse for me being in second place, but it is the reason I’m in second place.

Week 8 Top Pickers
Raider Nation 14-2
Strange Brew 13-3
There’s no change at the top of the community standings as Running With the Night is still clinging onto a one-game lead. But a big shoutout is in order for Raider Nation for leading the way with 14 correct picks to go from a tie for seventh place to sole possession of second place!
Apologies for the short Top Pickers list this week. We had 18 people get 12 games right so I kept it to just the top two for brevity. Also, another 22 community members had 11 correct picks so Week 8 was an impressive showing by you all! Keep up the good work.
Remember to get your picks in this week. Best of luck and may your picks be good.
