Will the Texans hand Jets 6th straight loss in 2024?
Kicking off the Week 9 NFL slate on Thursday Night Football is the Houston Texans traveling to the east coast to take on the New York Jets. The nation will be subject to the Jets in primetime for the fifth time this season. On the bright side, they are only on primetime one more time in 2024.
The 2024 season has not gone the way that the Jets would have liked or expected. After starting 2-1, they have since dropped five in a row. During that span, the Jets have fired their head coach and traded for Davante Adams. Unfortunately, things just aren’t going their way and they currently sit at 2-6. The Jets can hope to catch fire and go on a run, but the playoffs in 2024 seem unlikely.
On the other side, the Texans are 6-2, but have come up on the right side of a few one-score games. They scored with 18 seconds remaining to beat the Jaguars in Week 4. In Week 5, they kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired to beat the Bills. Just last week, it took another game-winning field goal to beat the Colts. The Texans have not been as dominant as some expected coming into the season, but there is still plenty of time for them to get hot.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Jets are 2.5-point favorites at home against the Texans. However, right now it’s difficult to pick anything in favor of the Jets. The offense looks disjointed and the once dominant defense has struggled to put pressure on the quarterback. The Texans on the other hand are simply solid and that’s good enough to beat the Jets
The Pick: Texans (+2.5)
Season Record: 12-14
