Why the Greatest Threat to the Giants’ Hope of Turning Things Around Aren’t on the Field | New York Post
There was all sorts of frustration filling the Giants locker room in Pittsburgh. The real danger is looming: If that frustration turns into players growing desensitized to losing.

“Again, you face things head on, things you got to fix. Be consistent. You don’t want to have downs, you’re going to have them. But you got to remain consistent in the leadership part of it. Communicate well. Go through the things that you can improve and then really focus on the things that you need to do for this week. But these guys care a tremendous amount. They work well together. There’s a lot of respect on both sides. I’d say the coaches and the players. Everybody’s doing everything they can.”
Ex-teammate thinks Daniel Jones needs new start

Stat that defined the first half: No need to get too cute here. The Giants are 31st in the NFL averaging 14.6 points per game. That’s less than last year. It’s less than 2021 when Joe Judge got fired, and he had Jake Fromm finish the season as his starting quarterback. It’s just hard to win games when you can’t score consistently.
How Daniel Jones, Giants’ futile offense are even worse than you think | The Athletic
One of Jones’ underrated weaknesses was highlighted by ESPN analyst Troy Aikman during the Monday Night Football broadcast. Jones waited an extra beat to unleash a hole shot against Cover-2 on third-and-3 in the second quarter. Wide receiver Darius Slayton was open along the sideline, but by the time the lofted pass arrived so had safety Minkah Fitzpatrick for a big hit to force an incompletion.
“This is where Daniel Jones, he likes to see things before he turns it loose,” Aikman said on the broadcast. “If he recognizes the two-deep coverage right away — bang, you throw it in there, line drive it right on him and force Slayton to kind of have to slow down a little bit. But instead, Daniel Jones in the pocket, he wants to see it first before he turns it loose. That often times is the difference in a completion and an incompletion.”

2024 NFL Week 8 Takeaways: Jayden Daniels Hail Mary, Upsets Headline Chaotic Day | Bleacher Report
Rookie receiver Malik Nabers and rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. were on the field against Pittsburgh, and both made their presence felt. Nabers caught seven passes for 72 yards and consistently commanded defensive attention. Tracy rushed for 145 yards, 7.2 yards per carry and had a 45-yard scoring run before exiting with an apparent injury.
If the Giants can put more pieces next to Thomas and uncover a franchise quarterback, they should have the foundation of a very promising offense. That’s a big positive for New York, even if it doesn’t know who its long-term answer at quarterback will be.

The Steelers could use receiver help. As far as other possible options, Pittsburgh got an up-close look at Darius Slayton during Monday night’s win over the Giants. Slayton caught four passes for 107 yards against Pittsburgh that included a 43-yard catch that set up a Giants score.

Interior Defender: Dexter Lawrence. The Giants’ star nose tackle is on track for his third straight 90.0-plus PFF grade in a season. He has racked up 32 quarterback pressures, including 10 sacks, from 240 pass-rushing snaps so far this season.

What NFL teams with quarterback dilemmas should do entering 2025 | PFF
New York Giants: Draft relatively early, trade Daniel Jones. Moving him this offseason is the best idea for both New York and Jones, especially given that head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen will presumably be back in 2025.
Consequently, the right decision would be to allow Daboll to hand-pick a quarterback. The organization displayed tremendous interest in some premier rookie quarterbacks in 2024, including Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye, but was unable to move up the draft board to nab them. A year later, it feels like Big Blue needs to select a signal-caller with either its first or second pick. The latter might make more sense if the Giants don’t pick inside the top five.
COACH CRUZ I won the Super Bowl with the New York Giants – here’s how I would get them back to winning ways | The Sun
Cruz suggested that sometimes the Giants’ offense falls into the rut of being too one-dimensional; as such, he said he’d like to see more balance. “It’s always about a balanced attack, but I think it’s more about moving guys around,” he said. “Moving [receiver] Malik Nabers around the entire offense and put him in a position where the defense can account for him every single down.”

7. Brian Daboll, New York Giants (Previous ranking: 4th). Why is he still on this list after co-owner John Mara promised that he and general manager Joe Schoen would be back in 2025? Mostly because what Mara actually said was that he won’t make any in-season changes and “I do not anticipate making any changes in the offseason.”
But it really would take something drastic to change his mind, according to sources inside the organization. Maybe if they don’t win another game, or players start revolting, or Daboll’s press conferences just go off the rails — something like that. His team is feisty, though, so the odds are good he’s not going anywhere. But stranger things have happened to this organization in the last 13 years.

Brian Robinson Jr. said it’s “not difficult at all” for him and his teammates to reset after last week’s results.
“It’s another week. That [the Hail Mary] doesn’t happen every week, not even every year, but we just gotta keep doing what we do. There’s too many games. It’s a new week.”
NFL Team Needs: Prioritizing Every Roster’s Biggest Weaknesses Before Week 9 | Bleacher Report
Trade for CB Jonathan Jones, New England Patriots. The Commanders have a legitimate shot at winning the division or at least making the playoffs as a wild-card team this year. But the defense’s cornerback room could ruin those hopes, so it’d be smart to add a veteran ahead of the trade deadline.

While the team’s surprising surge has it sitting atop the NFC East, the roster is still being constructed with the future in mind.
