A few changes being made
On Tuesday, the Minnesota Vikings made a handful of roster moves that have shuffled the practice squad a bit. Let’s run through all of them for you here.
The first move that the Vikings made was to terminate the contract of running back Myles Gaskin. Yes, again. The team then immediately turned around and signed him back to the practice squad. It’s worth noting that Gaskin has already been elevated from the practice squad to the main roster three times this year, so if the Vikings want to call him up again they’ll have to sign him back to the active roster and let someone else go.
The team also signed offensive lineman Julian Pearl to the practice squad. Pearl played his college ball at the University of Illinois and was an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention at tackle in 2022. The 6’6”, 325-pound Pearl went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft and was signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent. He was also the sixth overall pick in the 2024 UFL Draft by the Michigan Panthers but chose to stick with Baltimore. He was waived as part of the Ravens’ final cuts and was not brought back to their practice squad.
To make room for Gaskin and Pearl on the roster, the team waived linebacker Dallas Gant and offensive tackle Marcellus Johnson from the practice squad.
After these moves, the Vikings’ practice squad is as follows, with players in italics having already used their allotment of three standard elevations for the season.

I believe this also means the Vikings have an open spot on the active roster, as that’s where Gaskin was when his contract was terminated. They could be opening a spot for Dalton Risner to return from injured reserve, but we’ll have to see what the team does.
