The Detroit Lions released their Week 9 initial injury report ahead of their upcoming matchup with the Green Bay Packers. While Jared Goff was not practicing, he insisted that he is “fine.”

The Detroit Lions are back on the road in Week 9, as they face off against their second divisional opponent of the season, the Green Bay Packers. The Lions elected to rest several of their veteran players ahead of this important game, while a couple of others are dealing with injuries that could keep them from playing this Sunday.

Let’s take a look at Wednesday’s injury report and get you up to date with what we know. Note that any changes from last week’s report will be bolded.

Injured reserve

A day after Christian Mahogany was removed from NFI and added to the 53-man roster, the Lions have begun the 21-day injury evaluation clock on Brodrick Martin.

No practice – Rest

  • LG Graham Glasgow (rest)
  • C Frank Ragnow (rest)
  • RG Kevin Zeitler (rest)
  • DL Levi Onwuzurike (rest)
  • DL DJ Reader (rest)

Coach Dan Campbell told the media during his press conference that he was planning on resting some veterans for “recovery” purposes. If they follow the same pattern as the veterans did last week, the players in this section could return to practices during the week—possibly as soon as Thursday—and then be ready to play on Sunday.

No practice – Injury

  • QB Jared Goff (ankle)
  • RB Sione Vaki (knee)
  • LT Taylor Decker (chest)
  • DL Josh Paschal (illness)
  • LB Malcolm Rodriguez (ankle) — injured in Week 8

Goff rolled his ankle in the win over the Titans in Week 8 but told 97.1 The Ticket on Tuesday that he expects to be okay, and reiterated that sentiment on Wednesday, saying he expects to return to practice tomorrow.

Vaki was spotted at practice on Wednesday working off to the side of the group with trainers on an exercise bike. He did not suffer a clear injury during the game and was playing late into the contest, but it’s also worth noting that he was not in the locker room following the Titans game, which is common for players who were injured during the game.

It’s unclear if Decker is getting a veteran’s day of rest for a chest injury or if this is a concerning issue. Decker was not specifically brought up by Campbell at his press conference, so we will have to wait and see on Thursday what his status may be.

Paschal had an issue flagged during one of his annual cancer screenings, and while, thankfully the cancer has not returned, he does have a few things to complete before he is ready to return to the field. Campbell indicated that Paschal’s availability is still “to be determined” as the week progresses.

Rodriguez re-injured his ankle just three special teams snaps into the Titans game, and while he is expected to miss some time, this is not considered a long-term injury.

“He aggravated an old ankle injury, but it’s nothing severe. Rodrigo is likely to miss Week 9, but should return for Week 10 vs. the #Texans,” NFL insider Jordan Schultz tweeted on Monday.

Limited practice

None

Full practice

  • DT Brodric Martin (knee) — Days remaining in injury evaluation window: 20

Following today’s practice, Martin will have 20 more days to work through the evaluation process. If he is healthy enough to return to the active roster, he has the potential to give the Lions a boost in their interior defensive line depth, something they’ve been looking for after multiple injuries along the defensive line.

No longer listed on the injury report

  • G Christian Mahogany (illness, NFI)

The players in this section are no longer listed on the injury report.

Packers’ initial injury report

No practice (starters are bolded):

  • QB Jordan Love (groin)
  • RB Josh Jacobs (ankle)
  • LT Rasheed Walker (knee)
  • LG Elgton Jenkins (glute)
  • C Josh Myers (wrist)
  • CB Jaire Alexander (knee)
  • FS Evan Williams (hamstring)

Limited practice:

  • DL Devonte Wyatt (ankle)
  • DL Kenny Clark (toe/shoulder)
  • CB Corey Ballentine (ankle)

Full practice:

  • LB Quay Walker (concussion)
