Phinsider Question Of The Day: When Should They Pull The Trigger?

Phinsider Question Of The Day: When Should They Pull The Trigger?

Our Miami Dolphins kicked off the offseason by letting some homegrown talent walk out the door. In at least a couple of instances, the choice was made for them by the players being offered almost ridiculous contracts. We now find out that others, like Andrew Van Ginkle, who has flat-out balled out since leaving, were never even offered a deal by Miami. What??? They needed to, at the very least, try, right??? Then came a flurry of free agent signings and some of the Phins fans panic seemed to fade. Now, it seems that with all the losses and additions to the roster, the one severe and glaring need that was overlooked (besides the offensive line) given Tua Tagovailoa’s past injury/concussion issues was a more solid quarterback that could carry the team if and when Tua went out for any extended period of time.

That time came; Tua got knocked out in the second game of the season and only returned this past week. The team now sits at a horrible 2 and 5 on the season. With the idea that rolling into Buffalo and pulling out a win over the Buffalo Bills seems unlikely, this season seems all but over. The team could then go on a roll, only losing one more game and ending up 10 and 7, which would likely get them in the playoffs. Still, that scenario seems less likely than pulling off the win this coming Sunday. Don’t get me wrong, I will cheer on my team against Buffalo this week and hope for the upset, but I do not expect it. So that leads us to tonight’s question of the day.

At what point does the Miami Dolphins’ front office wave the white flag on the 2024 season and look to trade some assets, especially older players, to add valuable draft picks to build for the future? If you believe that making some trades now or with one loss, who would you look to move?
