Many are asking for a change at offensive coordinator after another abysmal performance
The Las Vegas Raiders’ offense has been awful all season and is the primary reason why the Raiders own a 2-6 record after suffering their fourth loss in a row with a Week 8 defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Kansas City outgained Las Vegas 334 yards to 228 while a 70-yard touchdown drive in garbage time inflated the Silver and Black’s production. Part of what makes the team’s offensive struggles frustrating is that the unit can’t run the ball but offensive coordinator Luke Getsy seems adamant about establishing the run.
The Raiders had 21 rushes as a team but only managed to gain 33 yards (1.6 ypc). The team’s ineptitude in the ground game was no more evident than after a Tre’von Moehrig interception put the offense in a situation where it needed just three yards to take the lead late in the third quarter. However, three straight runs were stuffed on the goalline before a fourth down sack left Las Vegas with no points to show for the excellent field position.
That sequence ended up being a turning point in the contest as Kansas City kicked a field goal on the ensuing possession, making the failed conversion attempt the closest the Raiders got to winning the game. Naturally, that has led to many fans on X/Twitter calling for Getsy to be fired.
It doesn’t sound like any changes will be coming soon though. Head coach Antonio Pierce indicated he won’t be taking play-calling duties from Getsy.
When asked if he’s considering making a change at offensive play caller, #Raiders HC Antonio Pierce said he thinks the issue is execution. Doesn’t sound like OC Luke Getsy is in jeopardy of losing those duties.

Pierce also talked about the goal line sequence above and getting away from Brock Bowers, who had a productive first half.

Also, the stubbornness with the running game could be coming from AP.
Think Pierce has pushed for not giving up on the run game. https://t.co/03luNhbE8s

Granted, the passing game isn’t working this season either.
Because last week they tried throwing it three straight times on 1st and goal at the @Rams 4 and went nowhere
They tried something different this week. Same result. https://t.co/0vEk0jm0qs

Still, fans have had enough of Getsy.

Saying Luke Getsy calls a shit game would be an insult to people who actually call shit games.
Most uncreative, unimaginative OC in league history. #FireGetsy

How are we feeling about the Raiders heading into the trade deadline?
“This team will NEVER be 2-6 heading into the trade deadline.”

Jakobi Meyers had a nice return to action though; six catches for 52 yards and a touchdown.

Tough to find wins on the rest of the schedule.
Raiders lose to a beatable Chiefs team thanks to an inept offense.
You now have a pissed off Bengals team waiting for them in Cincinnati. pic.twitter.com/5Qrwn6hCqo
